"SEVERE" Child Alienation

This book is particularly recommended for "rejected" parents of "SEVERELY" alienated children - rather than of children who are merely "mildly" or "moderately" alienated.
The book's subject is popularly known as the "parental alienation syndrome" (PAS), a misnomer. This book's real subject is alienated children, not alienated parents.
In fact, authors of some of this book's chapters explicitly state that "Parental Alienation" is a misnomer, and that the correct term for this condition should be "Child Alienation" - which is the term I used in the title of this "customer review."
When a "rejected" parent's child is "SEVERELY" alienated, the rejected parent may need "advanced" or "graduate" education in "PAS," particularly "SEVERE" child alienation. Then this is the book for you - a larger format book with perhaps twice the text on each page than on the pages of the more popular books on "PAS" - i.e., the select "PAS" books on which I have already posted "customer reviews" here on AMAZON.com, all of which select "PAS" books I have given "five star" ratings.
Parents of "SEVERELY" alienated children are confronted by the possibly inevitable prospect noted by the female commentator in "Chapter 8 - Tips for Kids," of Dr. Warshak's DVD entitled WELCOME BACK, PLUTO:
"When children first start becoming alienated, they don't realize that they are going down a path that may end in a COMPLETE LOSS of a parent . . . before they know it, alienated children have BOXED THEMSELVES INTO A CORNER. Even if [these SEVERELY alienated children] do reconnect with a [rejected] parent in the future, NOTHING can EVER MAKE UP FOR ALL THE LOST TIME."
Among all of the excellent chapters in this book, particularly noted for "rejected parents" are Chapter 13, "Factors Affecting Reconciliation Between the Child and Target Parent," and Chapter 21, "Beyond Parental Alienation Syndrome: Reconciling the Alienated Child and the Lost Parent."
This book's 34 Chapters are authored by an international team of 31 scholars, demonstrating that PAS (ergo, child alienation) is not a problem unique to the U.S., but is a well-recognized problem of international proportions.
This advanced and comprehensive book should also be required reading for any "therapist," etc., counseling a SEVERELY alienated child, or any professional (e.g., court evaluator or guardian ad litem) involved providing advice to a court re the "best interests of the child" in contested child custody cases involving SEVERELY alienated children.
This landmark book (2006) is notably dedicated to the memory of Dr. Richard A. Gardner, whose prolific professional work in child psychiatry first publicized the condition of child alienation and brought this condition to the world's attention, and who coined the term "parental alienation syndrome" to label this condition. Significantly, the text of this book's dedication, by Dr. Richard A. Warshak, specifically utilizes the term "child alienation" rather than "parental alienation."
NOTE: As noted in my "customer review" here on AMAZON.com of Dr. Richard A. Warshak's excellent book entitled DIVORCE POISON, I was already drafting this "customer review" of THE INTERNATIONAL HANDBOOK OF PARENTAL ALIENATION SYNDROME in April, 2011. This INTERNATIONAL HANDBOOK is perhaps a mandatory adjunct to DIVORCE POISON, for "rejected" parents of SEVERE child alienation.
Indeed, in 2009, being unrepresented by an attorney, I introduced, as an item of evidence, a copy of this book into the official court record of the child custody case involving my daughter. The corrupt judge refused to either look at the book; inform himself of this book's contents; or examine, discuss, or otherwise address this book's relevant contents, thereby deliberately ignoring international experts' opinions relevant to the "best interests" of my daughter, and of my supposed rights as the father of my daughter who - even as of the date of 2009 - was already "SEVERELY" alienated from me.

The Parental Alienation Syndrome and Gender Bias in courts

I just read Chapter 30 "The Parental Alienation Syndrome and Gender Bias in the Courts" written by Attorney Jeffery Leving in this book. Jeffery Leving's chapter was fantastic and very helpful to me as a parent. It also lead me to his book "Fathers Rights" which opened my eyes to the unfortunate gender bias in our legal system.
