I enjoyed the book

I enjoyed the book, stories were relatable and fun and the characters kept you engaged, its forgettable though, the kind of story you forget about soon as you reach the last page, a fun light read that will keep you entertained on a slow day.

I could not put it down. The shortest time I have spent reading a book. I like the fact that it deals with the day to day life.

I liked the story line. I would have liked to read about Nomkhosi's parents when they hear about the pregnancy and the man responsible for it. I think it was going to be nice to be certain if Zaza's husband really knew about her promiscuous ways and still forgave her

The Pursuit Of Happiness

Zaza, Nandi, Tumi and Princess are best friends living in the bustling city of Johannesburg. They are all juggling busy careers and complicated love lives. Zaza is trying to break it off with her lover while making sure her husband never finds out about the affair and Nandi is figuring out how she feels about the unexpected return of her ex-fiance while planning a wedding with her current fiance. Tumi is struggling to conceive a child with her husband when his much younger lover pitches up on her doorstep to reveal a secret pregnancy and Princess is madly in love with her charismatic artist boyfriend who is beginning to behave suspiciously.
I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did as I am wary of anything labeled 'chick lit' but I was pleasantly surprised. This book is a celebration of sisterhood and positive female friendships. It's a respite from the negative narrative of female relationships we see in reality television shows. It is also a candid look at romantic love which contrary to what usual 'chick lit' will tell you is not always romantic. People love each other, stay together or break-up and behave the way they do in romantic relationships for a multitude of reasons. Jele explores all the different sides of love without judging any of her characters for the choices they make. This is a great book for you if you are looking for an easy and enjoyable read with characters you can relate to or at least recognise.
