Kim has done it again! This time exposing how Americans have been convinced by the talking heads of Wall Street and the Financial Entertainers that "average" gives substance and meaning to the "average" investor. Busting the Interest Rate Lies pulls back the curtain to expose that average rates of return are usually misleading, and are never to the benefit of the unsuspecting investor. As a matter of fact, unless the rates never change, average rates of return are almost always less than actual rates of return and worse, they communicate nothing of value that an investor can rely on. The roller coaster ride of the stock market, Real Estate or precious metals markets can make it seem like accounts are doing much better than in fact they are. Those trying to create, maintain or utilize wealth need to understand the messages of this book.

This should be required reading for high school graduates, with mandatory reviews every 10 years. I loved the way the authors used people with real financial issues in various stages of life, showing different ways of solving those problems, while proving foundational principles and economic truths remain constant. Shining a light on interest rate lies and putting compound interest back on our side of the ledger works. It is the magic wealthy people used in getting up that mountain towards financial freedom. I already want to read the sequel, when our hero retires and uses the same interest rate truths to come down the mountain, pass on generational wealth, and reflect back on the peace that prosperity economics brings at this stage of life.
