Good Reading

It’s not wise to tease a wolf and running from one will surely get you chased.

Told in first person POV, Luring the Pack wasn’t the typical shifter-finds-mate type paranormal I’m used to. Truly, I would be hard pressed to call this erotic romance, at least in the beginning. There was really little to no romance, especially throughout the first half of the book. The heroine has such mixed feelings for the shifters. Lust certainly. Curiosity, sure. Fear, definitely lots of that. There are more romantic feelings between the group towards the end but the lust seems to stay in the forefront.

This book pushes the line on nearly being monster erotica. Not because there’s sex in partial or full animal form, or at least none that reaches fruition. It just had a dark gritty feeling about it. Young half naked woman running from a pack of wolves, knowing and accepting that the end of the chase means an orgy had a lot to do with that perception. Also, more than once Emmalina ends up on the ground and covered in mud. Or maybe it was her circumstances. Her house seems to be in disrepair, the car doesn’t drive well, she has to ride a rickety bike, she’s hungry, the trailer she rents to Judson and Dane is a wreck, and she works at a dead end job at the local diner. I waffled back and forth on not understanding her reasoning for making certain decisions and then trying to cut her some slack because she’d been through a lot of bad in a really short time.

This book took me out of my comfort zone and maybe that’s a good thing every once in a while. I’ve read plenty of fated-mate type books and many fall into specific pattern I’ve come to expect. This ones different but then it also slowly moved more towards traditional. Her mates, including the Alpha, are fiercely protective and jealous of anyone touching her other than themselves. I did like her mates even though they were a little too pat. The Alpha (a doctor), plus two more wolves (a lawyer and a psychiatrist) who could both vie for beta and then there’s Judson, he’s something special that I won’t reveal, but that was truly different and unexpected.

Readers who like to go for something a little different, who don’t mind a little harshness or grittiness to their erotic paranormal stories may find this one entertaining. It’s not just sex scene after sex scene, those don’t even start until later in the story, but there is lots of teasing build up that made the first serious kisses pretty hot. When they all decide it’s time to claim their mate, watch out, that’s a lot of body parts and it’s a good thing this girl has stamina and plenty of time to really think about how bad she wants this and them.

The men for the most part are actually pretty kind and considerate. Judson has a truly heart tugging back story and then, as often happens in packs, there’s a power struggle that endeared the Alpha to me. Dane and Edward were just extra sexy man/wolf candy but I didn’t have a problem with them being a part of this, either. There’s also a whole side story to do with Emmalina’s sister that feels kind of clunky and unnecessary to the story but maybe the author plans to use it as a jumping off point for another book. That could be interesting.

This isn’t a terribly long read but it was thankfully long enough that it didn’t feel like it was completely centered around sex. The power struggle I mentioned was well written with some pretty dramatic scenes. Overall a eye opening read that’s sure to find an audience.

A fantasy for the heart.

While this is not my favorite genre, I have to say this has become one of my favorite stories. While it takes place in a fantasy shifter world, it is about an all-too-real societal problem -- illegal drug trade and its effects on families. At the same time it's an infinitely lovely story about five people, Emmalina, who is trying to hold her family and home together, and four shifters, three wolves and one saber-tooth tiger, who all love her. It's fast-paced, action-packed, and a delightful romance wrapped up in a beautifully-written package that will entertain you from beginning to end.

About the Author

Michael Brzustowicz is a physicist turned data scientist. After a PhD from Indiana University, Michael spent his post doctoral years at Stanford University where he shot high powered Xrays at tiny molecules. Jumping ship from academia, he worked at many startups (including his own) and has been pioneering big data techniques all the way. Michael specializes in building distributed data systems and extracting knowledge from massive data. He spends most of his time writing customized, multithreaded code for statistical modeling and machine learning approaches to everyday big data problems. Michael now teaches Big Data, parttime, at the University of San Francisco.

About the Author
Besides being an artist of considerable reputation, Erle Loran was Professor of Art at the University of California, Berkeley. Richard Shiff holds the Effie Marie Cain Regents Chair in Art and directs the Center for the Study of Modernism at the University of Texas, Austin. His books include C�zanne and the End of Impressionism (1984).

A great book for understanding how Cezanne constructed his paintings

A great book for understanding how Cezanne constructed his paintings. The diagrams of the paintings, created by the author, gave me a lot of insight into how each painting works as a whole. Much of the text, especially in the first five chapters, can be scanned as it is dryly academic and filled with attacks on critics, other academics, and painters who have the audacity not to be named Cezanne. It is definitely not for someone wanting a book of paintings. All of the reproductions are Black and White. As a fan of Cezanne however, I will pour over the diagrams over and over to gain insight into his process.

Very descriptive, I can see what Cezzanne did. This book shows the how and why of numerous works. You will learn how he used perspective and reversed perspective. His paintings are shown along with pictures of the actual subjects, so you can see how he rearranged them.

This book is for anyone wanting/needing to know how Cezanne came up with his unique compositions. His methods are examined. His thoughts that were conducted to others throught letters and recall are examined. There is a lot of controversy over Cezanne's use of perspective. The author has photographed the exact locations of Cezanne's paintings and made diagrams with explanations for the reader to know exactly how the artist worked. I found this book to be very interesting.

About the Author

Edward Hampshire was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, and King's College, London, where he gained a doctorate in war studies in 2008. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and wrote his doctoral thesis on 1960s British naval technology. He is currently researching British defence policy of the late 1970s and 1980s, in particular the 1981 Defence Review. His publications include From East of Suez to the Eastern Atlantic: British Naval Policy 1964–70.

Paul Wright has painted ships of all kinds for most of his career, specializing in steel and steam warships from the late 19th century to the present day. Paul's art has illustrated the works of Patrick O'Brian, Dudley Pope, and C.S. Forester amongst others, and hangs in many corporate and private collections all over the world. A Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, Paul lives and works in Surrey.

This book is SO good I couldn't put it down!!!!!

Anne Martin, I really LOVE your books!! I am nine years old and I really enjoyed reading The Doll People Set Sail.( I enjoyed it so much I finished it in three days!) When I heard the the fourth Doll People book came out I went to the store and bought it right away. PLEASE write more books, when I finished The Runaway Dolls I was sad because it was my favorite book and now I am so glad you wrote another book. When I started the book I knew there would have to be an end, so when I got to the end I wanted to keep reading to know what happens but I didn't want to finish it. Please write more books I will read every one you write!

I loved the 4th in the series of Doll People, you find yourself right in the story with the dolls. Which you feel differently about your own dolls after reading this series! Smile! Working at a elementary school for years, I have read these books to many a student, and enjoyed it over and over again. Ann M. Martin is an amazing author. I love her imagination! I have given these sets as gifts to so many, and the children love them. Families would enjoy every moment reading them together with their children. I highly recommend The Doll People Stories, book 1-4!!!

Great job with this story. Finding the one that got away....if only everyone could be so lucky. Reunited, unconditional love and determination to make it work.... all a story made in heaven! Great read. Loved the characters, and I'm looking forward to book three!!!
